Bec Rouge Supérieur
Despite the 6,000ft ascent made directly from Argentiere, I was keen to revisit the remarkable ridge which leads to the Bec Rouge Supérieur, overshadowed by the Aiguille du Chardonnet.
Despite the heat, and more general loss of snow and ice, there was significantly more snow on the ridge than on my last visit. It made for some delicate passages on frighteningly loose rock and slow going in places. But it remains another superb top among the minor summits beneath those more famous mountains that crowd all around, offering an incredible grandstand view across Les Droites and Les Courtes and of course the Aiguille Verte and Mont Blanc.
I returned via the high level Peclerey trail befoore dropping towards Le Tour and from there back on the fast forest trails to Argentiere.
