Thieveley PIKE 2026
It was eight years ago that I last raced Thieveley Pike - the weather that year was much the same as this year and that of 2025, but that’s where the similarities seemed to end.
In 2018, 165 ran and I finished 10th and 1st v40. Last year, (2025) 100 ran. I was sweeping the course, and therefore saw little of the front end of the race, but my 2018 time would have put me in 5th.
This year, only 51 ran and my time would have seen me finish in 3rd.
It seems strange that the number of runners on what was always a popular low key race, which is fully flagged, short, and well suited to ‘novice’ fell runners, in good weather, is dropping as it is.
Hopefully the numbers will pick up again in the years ahead, this being one of the better short races in the area.
